Here are a few of the most commonly asked questions and simple answers that might help you in using our power banks.

Q. So, how does this work?
A. Just scan the QR code on the front of the machine, login with a single touch with your Google or Apple ID account, accept the Ts & Cs, and pay. A power bank will pop out and you can use it to charge your device. Just plug it in and do you while your device recharges.

Q. How much does it cost?
A. You can use the power bank for up to 2 hours and that will cost you just $5. If you go over 2 hours, it will cost you $50 but you then own the power bank. It's yours to keep forever.

Q. How does the Pre-Authorization work?
A. When you click PAY, a $50 pre-authorisation is made. A pre-authorisation means that the money is not actually paid to us, but is deducted from your available balance. It's kind of like a deposit that you get back if you return the power bank to the machine within 2 hours.

Q. When do I get the pre-authorisation back?
A. That all depends on your bank. We release the funds back to you immediately if the power bank is returned within 2 hours. ​But different banks take different amounts of time to change the $50 pre-authorization that appears on your statement into the $5 charge. Sometimes it's immeddiate, and sometimes it can take a couple of days. If it hasn't changed from $50 to $5 within 3 days (assuming you returned the power bank within 2 hours) then please contact us with the details.

Q. Will the power banks work with any device?
A. Each power bank has Lightning, USB-C and Micro USB cords included. When the power bank pops out of the machine, you have a minute to see if it suits your device - if it doesn't, simply pop the power bank back into the machine and your $50 pre-authorization will immediately dissolve. But The Source power banks are suitable for most phones, laptops, smartwatchs, and tablets.

Q. How long will it take for the power bank to charge my device?
A. That all depends on your device. Most people get enough charge (if not full charge) in an hour or two to get them going and connected.

Q. What information is collected?
A. The Source only collects technical data (e.g., IP address) using cookies, etc. We do not actually (at this stage) collect yoru actual name, phone number, email, credit card details, or other identifying information. Q. If I go over the 2 hours and end up owning the power bank, how can I recharge it?
A. Simply use a standard charger with a USB-C plug and it charges like any other device.

Q. How long will it take to recharge a power bank at home?
A. Again, that will depend on your cables and charger at home, but usually it will go from zero to fully charged within an hour.

Q. Who can I contact if I have questions or issues?
A. If you have any queries, technical questions, or have any problems at all with the hire of your power bank, or even if you go over 2 hours and end up owning the power bank yourself, you can contact us and will will respond to your message typically within 24 hours. We can see remotely the details of your hire so we can quickly verify the details to assist with your query.

Q. What do the coloured lights mean on the battery charger?
A. When the power banks are in the machine, the colours are simply for looks, When you take a power bank out of the machine, the light will glow green to indicate it is at 50-100% charged, blue when it is 25-50% charged, and voilet when it is 0-25% charged.

Q. If I want a charger unit for my venue or event, how does it work?
A. We have machines which can hold from 8 power banks up to 40 power banks, We can supply these machines for short term installations (like music festivals, etc) or as permanent installations (like in cafes, bars, shopping centres......anywhere! And we suppy them at no cost to the venue. If you are interested, drop us a line and let us discuss the options and details with you.
